Directing the spectacle
Mark A. Dahl first joined Miss'd America in 2010 as assistant director during its triumphant return after a five-year hiatus. Taking the reins as writer and director in 2011 following Bob Hitchen, Mark transformed the annual event into the fully staged, choreographed extravaganza it is today. Lovingly mirroring its mainstream namesake, the competition features swimsuit, evening gown, interview, and talent categories infused with bold satire and unmatched theatrical flair.

Every year, Mark brings an entirely new creative theme to the live finale in Atlantic City—spanning from vintage circus spectacles and dynamic superhero showdowns to grand, patriotic salutes to America. Through every lavish set piece and comedy sketch, the production stays anchored in what matters most: celebrating drag artistry, empowering community, and honoring chosen family.
Star talent and impactful philanthropy
Brought to life each year with celebrity host Carson Kressley, right-hand stage manager and choreographer Gabriel Reyes, and the sensational Miss'd America Dancers, the show delivers world-class entertainment with lasting purpose. Under Mark's direction, the event has channeled more than $500,000 into essential LGBTQ organizations, including the Greater Atlantic City GLBT Alliance and the Schultz–Hill Foundation.
